The Garden in Bloom

Riverbanks Botanical Garden is always full of color, texture, and interesting things to see.

In the middle of the Walled Garden, we have two sets of beds that we call annual beds. We change the plantings in these beds every spring (usually April) and fall (October).

During the winter months, you can see pansies, violas and winter vegetables that have been planted in a particular design for the season. The colors and designs change every year and sometimes incorporate spring blooming bulbs as well.

For the warmer months, the annual beds are transformed into an oasis of color and excitement, as we plant tropical plants and many blooming perennials. Again, the color and design of these beds changes every year and may focus on colorful foliage, vines, bold blooms or any combination of these. Regardless of the design, these middle beds are always the focal point and are planted to complement the surrounding garden.
